We are going to discuss the blender game engine death. Before the game engine was created there is something growing deep within the country of the Netherlands. Something powerful and disruptive that no one knows about. This disruptive power is a thing called Blender. In the year 2000, also the same year Peter Shinners creates pygame, Erwin Coumans and Gino van den Bergen develop the Blender Game Engine.
There’s a group of hardcore Blender Game Engine developers led by Tristan Porteries who see the writing of the wall in 2015. They create an independent branch of Blender with the aim of cleaning up and improving the official Blender Game Engine code. The project is named Uchronia Project Blender Game Engine, UPBGE for short.
