Blender 2.6 Game Engine Tutorial Dynamic Text Display (Old Version)

Setting up a dynamic text display on the Blender game engine is not straight forward, and the location of settings changed with version 2.6.

Key points –
To display text interactively a bit map file of a font is UV mapped to a plane.
Mapping to the first character in the image file Blender will then map correctly to all the other characters.
When Blender Render is changed to Blender Game a Game Settings panel appears in the Material properties window.
In the Game Settings panel you must tick ‘Text’.
A game property must be added to the plane which must be named ‘Text’.
You have to set up logic bricks and possibly Python scripts to update the Text property when events occur.
