Attaching Clothes To Your Rigged Avatars || Blender 4.2 Tutorial
This should work with most types of rigs in blender!!! 🙂
This is a quick and easy way to attach clothes to your avatar. You may need to using weight painting afterwards to get the job completely done 🙂

A quick tutorial explaining the how to use Vertex Data Transfer modifier in blender(free) to attach clothing and other accessories to your rigged characters. Let me know in the comments if you need help!!

Quick And Dirty Way To Rig Characters!
1. First, make sure the clothes are lined up with the body.
2. Click on the item of clothing you want to attach to rig.
3. In the modifier tab, Click « Add Modifier » and under « Edit », add « Data Transfer ».
4. Click The Eye Dropper to the right of « Source » and select the « Skin Mesh. »
5. Select « Vertex Data » and click the drop down next to it.
6. Click « Vertex Groups » and change the mapping to « Nearest Face Interpolated. »
7. Under « Topology Mapping » change the « Ray Radius » to 5m.
8. Click « Generate Data Layers. »
9. Click the little arrow at the top and Click « Apply » (Or push CTRL-A while hovering the modifier panel).
10. Click « Add Modifier » again and go to « Deform » and click « Armature. »
11. Click the Eye Dropper next to « Object » and select your « Mixamo Rig ».
(or other type of rig)
12. Lastly, with the « Item of Clothing » selected, Ctrl Click the « Mixamo Rig » in the inspector.
(Shift-click if your selecting it in the viewport)
13. Right Click And Click « Parent/Object » and your all done!
14. Repeat this with all other articles of clothing!
