In this first DVD of our series, Hélder Pinto starts by studying the materials and examining reference. He then sets up the scene in CryENGINE and gives an overview of the Material Editor. From there Hélder shows how to create a golden material, tinted glass material, shattered glass material, car paint material, velvet material, rubber tire material, and a worn and painted metal material.

In this second DVD of our series, Hélder Pinto continues where he left off in creating many different material types. Hélder starts off by creating a concrete material and then goes into how to create a rusty metal material. From there he creates an amazing brushed chrome material, and marble material. Other materials created are: a bronze material, leather material, wooden material, monitor TV material, and vegetation material. Once the materials are created, he then takes a step back and tweaks them all and also goes over the new filmic HDR tone mapping.

In this third DVD of our series, Hélder Pinto goes into more intermediate and advanced topics now that the basic materials are complete. He starts off by talking about parallax occlusion mapping and shows how to create a really nice road material. Hélder then creates a decal material, terrain material, edge decals, decals, detail maps, scrolling textures, specularity tricks, and blend layers.

Hélder Pinto has been working with CryENGINE for over 4 years and has worked on games such as the award winning « Crysis 2 » and « Under Siege ». As a Level Artist, Hélder’s speciality lays in having responsibility for the for the entire aesthetics of a level, while keeping a close eye on gameplay and performance. For more than a decade, Hélder has gained an enormous amount of experience and respect from within the community for for his outstanding character and artistic caliber. Hélder currently works at Crytek in Frankfurt, Germany on an unannounced project.
