Cinematic Depth of Field | Tips & Tricks | Unreal Engine

Cinematic Depth of Field in Unreal Engine enables you to simulate real-world photographic depth-of-field effects that blur a scene based on the distance in front of, or behind, a focal point. It’s not only high-quality and highly performant, it’s also easy to use.

In this Unreal Tips & Tricks video, we’ll briefly discuss the basic operation of a camera and show how the real-world camera settings are implemented in Unreal Engine. We’ll then look at how to add a cinematic camera to the scene and go over the filmback, focus, and lens settings, as well as explaining how to tweak those settings to achieve the required look, including bokeh effects. Finally, we’ll see how you can easily visualize your focal plane.
